New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner has been named to the United States Men's National Team's final 23-man roster for the team's final two Concacaf Nations League Group A matches against Canada on Nov. 15 and Cuba on Nov. 19 by Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. Turner, who participated in the USMNT's pre-camp in Bradenton, Fla., from Nov. 2-9, earns his first career selection to the United States Men's National Team senior roster.
The USMNT resumes Concacaf Nations League play with its final two matches in Group A, facing must-win scenarios in both games to advance to the knockout stage. Berhalter's side will play against Canada on Nov. 15 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fla. at 7:00 p.m. ET (ESPN2, UniMas, TUDN), before meeting Cuba on Nov. 19 at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands at 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1, UniMas, TUDN). To advance to the knockout round of the competition, the USMNT must win both of its remaining matches and make up a three-goal differential on current Group A leaders Canada.
Turner, 25, owns a 16-14-16 career record with 170 saves and 10 shutouts since signing with the Revolution as an undrafted college player ahead of the 2016 MLS season. In 2019, the Park Ridge, N.J. native registered an 8-4-7 record with 87 saves and five shutouts, with one additional start in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.
The fourth-year pro finished the regular season ranked fourth among MLS goalkeepers in saves percentage (74.8), fifth in winning percentage (.639), and second in saves per 90 minutes (4.54). Turner's efforts resulted in a fifth-place finish in Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year voting, as well as a multi-year contract extension with New England on Aug. 21, 2019.
