FC Cincinnati News Release
FC Cincinnati defender Matt Miazga underwent a successful surgical procedure to repair an entrapped nerve in his hip, the club announced today.
The procedure was performed on December 15, 2022 by a world-renowned surgeon in this field of sports medicine, Dr. William B. Hutchinson, at the Pacific Coast Hernia Center in Santa Monica, California. He is expected to miss the beginning of preseason.
Miazga, 27, was acquired in August of last season from Chelsea FC. In the latter half of the 2022 season, Miazga made 10 appearances, all starts, solidifying FC Cincinnati's backline ahead of the club's first berth in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Miazga scored two goals and added one assist and became the first defender in club history to score in consecutive games in August against the New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew.
