Matt Hanna Announces His Retirement

DENVER-October 2, 2008- The Denver Outlaws announced today attackman Matt Hanna will retire from Major League Lacrosse and end his professional lacrosse career. A Johns Hopkins graduate, Hanna put up impressive numbers with the Outlaws scoring 36 goals and tallying 47 points in 24 games over his three seasons in the MLL. "I want to thank the Outlaws organization for everything they have done in the past 3 years. I will certainly miss my teammates and the great Outlaws fans."
He also played a major role in the lacrosse community as an assistant coach at Regis High School and taught at numerous summer camps and clinics. Head Coach and General Manager Brian Reese commented, "Matt represented everything we look for in our players. He is talented, hard working and team oriented. We sincerely appreciate everything Matt did for the organization on and off the field and we will surely miss him. No one did more in the community than Matt Hanna and his locker room leadership will be missed. He has been a big part of our success since year 1 and we wish him the best in the future."
The Outlaws had another successful season in 2008, setting a pro-lacrosse attendance record on July 4th with 20,116 fans attending their game at INVESCO Field at Mile High and reached the Championship game for their second time in three seasons, only to fall short against the Rochester Rattlers.
