
Matt Desiderio Announces Commitment to Brown University

AUSTIN, MN - The Austin Bruins, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to share that Top Prospects Defesemen Matt Desiderio has announced his commitment to continue his education and play NCAA Division I hockey at Brown University. This commitment comes a week after Desiderio participated in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
"Proud to announce my commitment to play division 1 hockey and further my academics at Brown University", mentioned Desiderio. "Thank you to my family, friends, coaches, and anyone who has helped along the way."
Desiderio, 17, is in his first season with the Bruins and in the NAHL. The native of North Caldwell, New Jersey has appeared in 43 games and has amassed 3 goals and 14 assists for a total of 17 points. Matt becomes the second Bruin in Franchise history to commit to Brown and the sixth this season to announce their commitment.
"Matthew has been great for us all season. He is the youngest player on our team but you wouldn't know it based on his decision-making and skill set," explained Head Coach Steve Howard. "His family really wanted him to be at an Ivy League School and our entire staff couldn't be more excited for all of them. Brown is getting a great defenseman and an even better person."
Brown University is a private Ivy League research university in Providence, Rhode Island. Brown is the seventh-oldest institution of higher education in the United States as it was founded in 1764 as the College in the English Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. The Bears are members of ECAC Hockey and play at Meehan Auditorium.
