HFX Wanderers FC News Release
Match Facts:
The Wanderers hold an all-time record of 1-3-4 versus Pacific FC. Their last meeting was a 2-0 win by Pacific in the first match of the 2021 campaign. It was a hard fought battle between the coast-to-coast teams and Pacific FC came out on top, arguably impacted by their ability to train longer than the Wanderers leading up to the first match of the season. Now with the first win under the belt for the Wanderers and the team as a whole finding their feet, tonight's match will be an exciting one.
Injuries:
HFX Wanderers enter tonight's match with Eriks Santos available for selection but this one comes too soon for Peter Schaale and Jake Ruby who are being monitored on a day-to-day basis. Jeremy Gagnon-Laparé remains out. Jems Geffrard also continues to represent Haiti in the Gold Cup and will be out for the remainder of The Kickoff.
Captains:
Andre Rampersad retains the captain's armband for the 2021 campaign.
Coaches:
This is Stephen Hart's third season in charge of the Wanderers and recently signed an extension for three more years with the club. For the remainder of The Kickoff, Mesut Mert has stepped in for Stephen as he has returned to Halifax and has undergone a minor medical procedure. Stephen Hart is recovering well and will be joining the team when they return to Halifax for their home opener on August 2.
Wanderers notes and player information links:
The Wanderers have 14 returning players from the 2020 campaign. Last year's leading scorer, Akeem Garcia, is once again joined in attack by João Morelli and supported by a solid core including the likes of Andre Rampersad, Peter Schaale and Christian Oxner.
The returning core welcomes the experience of Morey Doner, Jeremy Gagnon-Laparé and Eriks Santos to the team this season as well as the fresh faces of U SPORTS draftees Kareem Sow and Stefan Karajovanovic.
