San Diego Wave FC News Release

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego Wave Fútbol Club (10-6-4, W-L-D) heads into the final road match of their inaugural regular season versus Orlando Pride (5-9-6) this Sunday, September 25, at 4:00 p.m. PT. A win or a draw at Exploria Stadium would secure San Diego Wave FC a spot in the 2022 NWSL playoffs.

"We know we can perform better, we need to perform better if we're going to stay in the hunt for what we want to achieve. We know we've got a tough away trip to Orlando. They're a good side. They've given us problems before, so we will need to make sure we are at our very best to make sure we get something from this game."

Casey Stoney, San Diego Wave FC Head Coach

San Diego's first and only meeting with Orlando Pride took place on August 13, at Torero Stadium, ending in a 1-0 win for the Florida side through a penalty goal. The Pride lost 3-0 to North Carolina Courage this past Wednesday, marking its fourth consecutive loss since August 20.

Last Saturday, Wave FC defeated Angel City FC 1-0 in front of a sold-out Snapdragon Stadium. Jaedyn Shaw scored the home side's game-winning goal in the 30th minute and made history with her third goal in three total appearances. Kailen Sheridan earned Player of the Week with her third penalty save of the 2022 season, preserving San Diego's win in the 74th minute.

San Diego Wave FC will return home to Snapdragon Stadium on Friday, Sept. 30, to take on North Carolina Courage for its final match of the regular season. Tickets for San Diego's final home match are on sale now at www.sandiegowavefc.com/tickets.
