Sacramento Republic FC will host West Bromwich Albion on Monday, July 21 at Bonney Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The match is the first of two friendly matches between Republic FC and West Bromwich Albion. This will be the third friendly match of the season for Republic FC and their third match in five days. The match will be the fourth friendly match for West Bromwich Albion as they prepare for their 2014 English Premier League campaign.
Republic FC comes into the match after falling 2-1 to Rangers FC in a friendly match on Saturday, July 19. Republic FC were the first to score in the match but were unable to hold their lead, allowing a goal in stoppage time.
Republic FC goalkeeper Jake Gleeson has allowed just three goals in his last five appearances, including three shutouts. During that same span Gleeson has dropped his goals against average from 1.68 to 1.16.
Defender Nemanja Vukoviæ has started all 19 USL PRO matches for Republic FC this season. Vukoviæ has now played all but five minutes of Republic FC's USL PRO campaign, a total of 1705 minutes on the season, tops in USL PRO.
West Bromwich Albion was founded in 1878 in West Bromwich, England. They were one of the founding members of The Football League, the first professional soccer league. West Bromwich Albion has been a part of the top league in English soccer for a majority of its time as a club.
West Bromwich Albion enters the match following a 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town in a preseason friendly on July 15. West Bromwich Albion will play Republic FC again on Friday, July 25 at Bonney Field before heading back to England to take on Nuneaton Town FC.
In preparations for their EPL season West Bromwich Albion have announced the signings of forward Brown Ideye, defender Joleon Lescott and that they had received defender Andre Wisdom on loan from Liverpool.
West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster was a member of the English National Team during this year's FIFA World Cup. Foster started for England against Costa Rica, recording a shutout in the scoreless draw on June 24.
