North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, NC (October 13, 2015) - The Carolina RailHawks return to action at WakeMed Soccer Park against FC Edmonton Wednesday, October 14th at 7:30 pm. The RailHawks are looking to earn a Championship spot with only two home games remaining in the Fall Season.

Wednesday's face-off will be the third meeting of the year between the RailHawks and FC Edmonton. The RailHawks lost 3-0 during their fall visit to Clarke Field but picked up one point from a 1-1 draw against the Eddies on the road in the spring.

The RailHawks are pushing to keep their Championship hopes alive with a victory over FC Edmonton. The RailHawks currently have 29 points in the combined standings and could potentially pull within three points of a postseason spot with a win over FC Edmonton.

The RailHawks are coming off a dominating 3-0 win over Jacksonville Armada FC at WakeMed Soccer Park. The RailHawks pressured Jacksonville nearly the entire first half and created ample scoring opportunities. RailHawks midfielder Tiyi Shipalane put the home team on the board in the 35th minute. The RailHawks maintained the momentum, as in the 42nd minute midfielder Nazmi Albadawi put the home team up 2-0 going into the half.

Albadawi added his second goal of the night in the 90th minute, as well as having picked up an assist on the Shipalane goal. Akira Fitzgerald and the defense, on a mission, did their part and kept Jacksonville scoreless to add three vital points towards the Championship race.

FC Edmonton has lost their last two matches and is currently coming off a 2-0 shutout loss against the New York Cosmos at James M. Shuart Stadium. The Cosmos scored two goals near the end of the first half and FC Edmonton was unable to recover.

After Wednesday's match, the RailHawks will travel to Lockhart Stadium to take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Saturday, October 17th at 7:30 pm ET. The match will be broadcast live locally in North Carolina on WRAL2 and nationwide on ESPN3.

RailHawks Notes:

Who to Watch

Forward Nacho Novo has been a key playmaker for the RailHawks' attack all season. The 36-year-old Spaniard has scored nine goals for the RailHawks in 21 games. Novo's speed and skill on the ball have made him one of the RailHawks' most threatening offensive weapons every match.

Coach's Quote

"We are coming off a big result at home against Jacksonville, but we must continue to battle for every single point until our last regular season game," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clarke. "Wednesday's match is a must-win for both teams and getting three points in front of our fans would certainly help us keep our postseason hopes alive."
