New York Red Bulls II News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls II (3-21-5, 14 points) will travel to face Oakland Roots SC (8-9-12, 36 points) on Saturday, September 17. Kickoff at Laney College Football Stadium is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+.
The two clubs will meet for the first time in their history on Saturday night. Oakland is one of nine clubs that New York will face or has faced this season for the first time. Red Bulls II will play a match on the West Coast for just the fourth time in its eight seasons in USL Championship, and the third since July of 2021.
New York will look to bounce back after falling to Miami FC on Friday, September 9, at MSU Soccer Park. Out of the five remaining matches this season for Red Bulls II, four will be played on the road, including the club's last three. New York will face three clubs currently above the playoff line in their respective conference.
Oakland defeated Phoenix Rising FC, 2-0, on Saturday, September 10, at Wild Horse Pass. Lindo Mfeka recorded a first half brace and joined Alejandro Fuenmayor on the USL Championship Team of the Week. Óttar Magnús Karlsson is tied for fourth in the league with 15 goals on the season.
Red Bulls II's Jordan Adebayo-Smith scored his 10th career USL Championship goal during the club's last match against Miami FC, with six coming as a member of the club. The striker has set new career highs in appearances, starts, minutes, goals, and assists this season with New York, and currently leads the team in goals.
New York sits 14th in the Eastern Conference, while Oakland ranks 10th in the Western Conference.
Following the match, New York will return home to face Detroit City FC in its final home match of the season on Wednesday, September 21. Kickoff at MSU Soccer Park is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
