Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville, KY (August 11, 2015) -- After a stunning 4-0 loss to FC Montreal, Louisville City FC (11-4-5, 38 points) goes on the road to play the Harrisburg City Islanders (8-7-4, 28 points) tomorrow at the Skyline Sports Complex. City is looking to rebound from that frustrating loss at home to on August 5 that snapped a six-game winning streak, while Harrisburg is hoping to jump above the playoff line.
Despite being deep into the USL's regular season, the two clubs have yet to face each other; the 7:00 PM kickoff tomorrow will be their first meeting. Louisville is bringing an impressive six wins out of their last seven games, and Harrisburg has not won two home games in a row yet this season.
In their last outing, Lou City gave up three goals to FC Montreal in 22 minutes and lost by the largest margin so far this season. In spite of the fact that the Montreal keeper was much busier than Scott Goodwin, Louisville was shut out for the fourth time in 2015.
Harrisburg is coming off of a 3-2 win against the Richmond Kickers. Harrisburg got goals from Brett Jankouskas, Donte Leverock and Yann Ekra. The Islanders led 3-0 just past the hour mark, but conceded to goals off of penalties to make the final five minutes of the match interesting.
With the playoffs looming and both teams vying for spots, this game will be crucial. Every point counts at this stage; Louisville needs to keep their second-place standing if they want t first round bye in the playoffs and they want to keep pace with Rochester for a regular season title. Harrisburg is right on the cusp of a playoff spot, and three points for them would go along way in achieving a postseason berth.
Louisville will take on Tulsa on Saturday before returning home on August 22nd to take on the third place Charleston Battery. Tickets are already available for that match and for the match the following Tuesday versus Orlando City SC. Visit LouisvilleCityFC.com/tickets today to purchase yours.
