WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club will host expansion side, One Knox SC Saturday evening. The clubs will meet for the first time since the Tennessee club's move to League One.
Triumph SC returns to Paladin Stadium one week after its draw against Richmond. Greenville took a 2-0 lead in the match before allowing two second-half goals to settle for a point apiece. The Triumph currently sit at sixth with eight matches under its belt that resulted in three wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. Knoxville sits just above Greenville in the standings with one more point and a 3-3-2 record.
Greenville has largely recovered from the injury woes earlier in the year that tested the team's depth on many occasions. All-League defender, Brandon Fricke has made a triumphant return, securing his first start of the season last Saturday and fourth League One goal, making him the third player to score every season he has played. However, Aaron Walker still remains unavailable due to a hamstring injury he picked up in the Charlotte match. Equally competent midfielder and recently turned right back, Tevin Shaw has moved in to assist in the midfield for Greenville. Like Fricke, Lucas Coutinho netted another goal last weekend against Richmond, as both players earned Team of the Week honors. Fortunately for Greenville, the 29-year-old will be lacing up for this Saturday's match since becoming the leading scorer on the team.
Knoxville has had moderate success in their inaugural season, picking up wins against Lexington SC in their home opener, Central Valley Fuego FC on the road and Chattanooga Red Wolves most recently on Tuesday. Consistent with their total wins, One Knox also has 3 losses against Chattanooga, Tormenta FC, and Hailstorm FC with two draws versus Forward Madison and Fuego. Greenville fans will recognize two faces from the Knoxville 18 on Saturday: former Greenville forward, Jake Keegan and defender, Derek Waldeck. One Knox will be going into Saturday's match against Greenville with tired legs after contesting a midweek match on Wednesday.
NEWS AND NOTES
Team of the Week: Brandon Fricke and Lucas Coutinho each tally a Team of the Week honor after they scored goals in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Richmond.
