North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC - The Carolina RailHawks (1W-0T-0L, 3pts) are making their first trip to Oklahoma City to face NASL expansion side Rayo OKC (0W-1T-0L, 1pt) on Saturday, April 9th at Miller Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 8:00pm EST, and you can watch it live locally in the Triangle on WRAL2, regionally in North and South Carolina on TWC SportsChannel, and nationally on One World Sports.
"Adding teams to the league, creates more competition," said Colin Clarke. "This will be our first ever trip to Oklahoma, and we will look to get a good result. Their last match was played in front of a sold out crowd. I'm sure their fans will make it difficult for us, but I think we will have a great match Saturday night."
The first-ever matchup between the RailHawks and Rayo OKC will have both teams looking for an important win. The RailHawks are coming off an impressive 2-1 victory over Minnesota United FC at WakeMed Soccer Park. Despite a Minnesota goal in the 3rd minute of the game, the RailHawks were not deterred and answered with two big goals by Tiyi Shipalane and Austin da Luz. With the win, the RailHawks are currently tied for first place in the NASL alongside 2015 NASL Champions, the New York Cosmos.
Coming off a 0-0 draw against FC Edmonton last weekend, Rayo OKC is looking to claim their first victory in the NASL in front of their home crowd at Miller Stadium.
Saturday's match will see former RailHawks Defender Futty Danso take the field with Rayo OKC. Danso, a former RailHawks U-23 player, played more than 1,400 minutes over 16 NASL starts for the RailHawks last season.
The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park to host Ottawa Fury FC on Saturday, April 16th at 7:30pm EST. Tickets to this match can be purchased online by clicking HERE or by calling the RailHawks Box Office at 919-459-8144.
