Atletico Ottawa News Release

Atlético Ottawa returns to the nation's capital seeking to keep their hot streak going at TD Place with a clash against Winnipeg-based Valour FC (KO 3 pm ET, live on OneSoccer). With back-to-back home wins secured last time out against Vancouver FC, exciting and improved performances are complimented by the allure of Toonie Hot Dogs this weekend at TD Place.

Here's everything you need to know before Sunday's match in Ottawa.

Atlético Ottawa remains seventh (7th) in the Canadian Premier League table.

A win over this weekend's opponents Valour FC would see them leapfrog Phil dos Santos' side whilst maintaining a game in hand on the opponents from Winnipeg.

Ottawa was held to a 2-2 draw away to league leaders Pacific FC last weekend.

Midfielder Ollie Bassett (25) and defender Miguel Acosta (25) were named to the Canadian Premier League Team of the Week for their performances at Starlight Stadium.

This was Bassett's third appearance in the TOTW after he was named Performance of the Match having scored one and created the other goal in last weekend's stalemate.

Bassett is Ottawa's top scorer - and third overall in the league - so far this season with five goals.

This was Acosta's first TOTW appearance of the season.

Striker Samuel Salter (22) scored his third goal of the season before winning the penalty that drew Atlético level.

Sunday's clash at TD Place will be the first time new signings Alberto Zapater (38) and Rubén del Campo (23) will be available for selection.

Zapater officially bacome one of the biggest transfers in league history when the transfer window opened on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

Striker Malcolm Shaw (27) and Toronto FC loanee Luke Singh (22) will return to the squad after their time away representing the Trinidad and Tobago National Team at the 2023 Gold Cup.

Ottawa's all-time record scorer featured in all three matches for the Soca Warriors with two starts (v USA and Jamaica) and one appearance off the bench.

Ottawa will be without defender Diego Espejo who is serving a one-match suspension following his red card against Pacific FC.

Valour has had an inconsistent season so far as it sits in sixth (6th) place, three points ahead of Atlético Ottawa (3W-6D-3L).

However, goalkeeper Rayane-Yube Yesli leads the Canadian Premier League in saves (42) and clean sheets (5) whilst Ottawa-native Matteo de Brienne is second overall for interceptions (21) after an impressive start to the season at left-back.

Record head-to-head (all time): 3W-3D-5L; 11 goals scored, 15 goals conceded
