Langley, BC - Vancouver FC will play at Willoughby Park for the first time in their home opener on May 7th against Cavalry FC at 4 p.m. PDT. Vancouver FC is currently sitting third in the CPL standings with a 1-1-1 record on the road and collecting four points.
MATCH STORYLINES:
Home, Here We Come: After spending all of April on the road, VFC is the last team in 2023 to host their home opener. This historic match is not only VFC's inaugural home opener but will also be the first match at the brand new stadium at Willoughby Park.
Old Friends, New Foe: Elliot Simmons will face yet another former team for the second consecutive week (HFX on Apr. 29, CAV on May 7). Simmons scored one goal in 65 appearances with the Calgary side, including four Canadian Championship matches, from 2020 to 2022.
All Around Leaders: VFC has three players on the CPL leaderboard including Callum Irving for saves (13) and Shaan Hundal tied for first in shots (6). Rocco Romeo leads the CPL for the third consecutive week in interceptions with 12.
