Atletico Ottawa News Release
Strong off a convincing performance over Halfiax on the weekend, Atlético Ottawa will look to continue on a winning streak when it hosts Ontario rival York United FC Wednesday evening at TD Place (KO 7PM, live on OneSoccer and TSN 1200).
MATCH NOTES
Atlético Ottawa was well represented in the past week Gatorade Team of the Week selection, with five players featuring on the start lineup: goal scorers Brian Wright and Malcolm Shaw, defender Drew Beckie and stellar centre-midfielders Alberto Soto and Ben McKendry who both had spectacular matches on Saturday against the Halifax Wanderers.
Of note, McKendry totalled 102 touches on the day, maintaining a passing accuracy of 94.8%.
The two clubs met once before in 2020 during the Island Games (Aug 16, 2020) with the match ending in a 2-2 stalemate. Malcolm Shaw was one of the two Ottawa goal scorers in that match.
On Wednesday, the squad will look to build on the numerous positives from Saturday's win; coach Khabra also mentioned in his pre-match comments that the coaching staff called for sharp execution and discipline from the players.
Head Coach Mista will serve his suspension for the accumulation of cautions. Assistant Coach Ajay Khabra will serve as manager for the night.
OUT: Brandon John (injury, season); Vashon Neufville (injury).
NEXT MATCH
Atlético Ottawa plays at home at TD Place again this Saturday, August 21st (KO 7PM) when it hosts Valour FC in the first leg of the Canadian Championship. Tickets for the game are available at atleticoottawa.club.
