Match Notes: Atlético Ottawa v Forge FC Sept 8
September 8, 2021 - Canadian Premier League (CPL)
Atletico Ottawa News Release
Atlético Ottawa returns to the pitch after a well-deserved break when it hosts Ontario foe Forge FC in the third of five meetings between the two sides this Wednesday, September 8 (KO 7PM, live on OneSoccer and TSN 1200).
MATCH NOTES
This is the third meeting between the two sides this season, the fourth all-time. If Atlético Ottawa has yet to score against Forge FC, this is also the first time the two clubs will face off at TD Place, where Ottawa remains undefeated in CPL action.
Ottawa will count on the red-hot Malcolm Shaw (6 goals, 22 shots), and best-supporting scorers Brian Wright (2 goals, 7 shots) and Miguel Acosta (2 goals, 3 shots), to light up the scoreboard and help the locals finally defeat the two-times CPL Champions Forge FC.
Head Coach Mista will get a slight reprieve from juggling injuries with five players returning from injury management protocols. He may however have to get creative once more with Ben McKendry serving a suspension and Viti remaining a game-time decision due to injury, leaving the role of play maestro in the middle of the field left to fill.
OUT: Brandon John (injury, season); Vashon Neufville (injury); Drew Beckie (medical); Ryan Telfer (suspension; red card); Ben McKendry (suspension, yellow cards accumulation).
IN OTHER NEWS
A reminder that Atlético Ottawa's match at York United FC originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 15 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, September 14 at 7 PM at York Lions Stadium in order to accommodate the recently announced 2021 Canadian Championship Quarter-Final Round schedule.
In accordance with TD Place updated policy, media members, including photographers, attending Atlético Ottawa matches at TD Place will be required to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide proof of vaccination along with photo identification on entry, effective September 12 (Atlético Ottawa matches from September 25 onward).
