Atletico Ottawa News Release

Atlético Ottawa has faced Cavalry FC three times before, twice this season, with an all-time record favourable to Ottawa with 2W-0D-1L. Ottawa last played Cavalry on July 11 during The Kickoff, a match that ended in a 2-0 win for the Atléti, thanks to goals by Malcolm Shaw (75') and Antoine Coupland (90+7') (yes, that goal, that emotional photo that made the rounds).

Atlético Ottawa saw two of its members make the Gatorade Team of the Week for Week 13: Alberto Soto and Zach Verhoven.

Verhoven played two games this week and didn't win either but was very good for Mista's team at right-back in both away clashes, coming at York and Pacific. (from CanPL.ca)

With 52 touches at York and 53 at Pacific (both below his season average), Soto still managed to be the visitors' attacking talisman, operating between the lines well, and getting his forwards actively involved in the match. (from CanPL.ca)

Always juggling to manage injuries and suspensions, Ottawa will be able to count on the return of a couple of big pieces: the always reliable defender Drew Beckie has been medically cleared to return to play and will be available for selection, and the dangerous striker Ryan Telfer is also expected to return to the lineup following his 5-match suspension.

OUT: Brandon John (injury, season); Keesean Ferdinand (injury protocols); Shawn-Claud Lawson (injury protocols); Milovan Kapor (injury protocols); Victor Martinez (injury, game to game); Chris Mannella (suspension, yellow accumulation); Miguel Acosta (suspension, yellow accumulation); Zach Verhoven (suspension, yellow accumulation).

Atlético Ottawa has 9 matches left in the 2021 campaign, including this matchup against Cavalry, and four of those will be at TD Place.

This Saturday's match is a 5$-night affair, with in-stadium promotions including 5$ kids tickets, hot dogs, beer and 2020 official team polo shirts.

A short presentation will be held at the time of the pre-match coin toss to acknowledge Atlético Ottawa historical franchise's first-ever captain, Canadian Ben Fisk, now playing with Cavalry FC.
