LANGFORD, BC - - Pacific FC today faces Vancouver FC in the Salish Sea Derby at Starlight Stadium at 2 pm PT. Pacific FC and Indigenous groups from throughout the region will mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Day at the club's last regular season home match this afternoon. A special pre-match ceremony on the pitch will include representatives from local Indigenous communities and dignitaries from Greater Victoria. The ceremony will include a moment of silence. While fans to the match are being encouraged to wear orange, Pacific FC players will be wearing their kit designed by Coast Salish artist Maynard Johnny Jr. The black, white, and teal jersey was designed in the spirit of truth and reconciliation highlighting the work that continues to need to be done throughout the country.
For the first time, 17-year old Sami Marvasti will be in the match day squad for Pacific FC. Marvasti has decided to honour his mother and will have her last name, Keshavarz, on the back of his jersey today.
