South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release


STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC continues to prepare for its 2023 USL League One regular season as it takes on Georgia State University this Saturday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m. ET, from Optim Sports Medicine FIeld at Tormenta Stadium. Tormenta FC will look to build on last week's 0-0 result against Georgia Southern University and search for its first preseason win of the year against a respectable Sun Belt program. Head Coach Ian Cameron will continue to test players and new ideas prior to its preseason game against the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL Championship next Saturday.

The Statesboro side receives the visit of a respectable Georgia State team that opens up its spring season this Saturday. Notably, Tormenta FC Academy alum Stephen O'Hearn returns to Statesboro to play with Georgia State this Saturday. Cameron has an opportunity to roster several new faces and trialists currently competing for a spot on the League One roster.

South Georgia seeks its first goal of the preseason after going scoreless against Georgia Southern. Kazaiah Sterling and Elijah Amo began to connect on the offensive line with the partnership being one to watch out for in the coming weeks.

Georgia State will open its spring season against the USL League One champion Tormenta FC at Tormenta Stadium. In 2022, Georgia State went 12-4-3 making them one of the more competitive teams in the Sun Belt, making the Sun Belt Tournament before eventually falling to James Madison University.

The growing 2023 Tormenta FC roster features a strong core of returners ready to fight for a second League One title with the added power of new midfielder Matheus Cassini, first-year professional Collin Mocyunas and many more new additions.
