Friday marks the start of Tormenta FC's fifth professional season in USL League One. The team looks to continue its form after a historic 2022, where the team conquered its first-ever USL League One title. With everyone now chasing South Georgia, Head Coach Ian Cameron and his team will look to set the standard this Friday.
South Georgia played a total of five preseason games winning twice (Georgia State 2-1, Stetson University 3-0), drawing once (Georgia Southern University (0-0) and losing twice (Tampa Bay Rowdies 3-1, Charleston Battery 1-0.) Through these fixtures, Cameron was able to test the group against teams of different levels to help the team build chemistry and find its desired style of play.
The 2023 offseason was a busy one for Tormenta FC as the club made numerous eye-catching moves to solidify the squad for the upcoming season, in addition to 10 players returning. With the additions of Nick Akoto, Pedro Fonseca and Jackson Khoury, to name a few, the team seeks to continue its positive results on the road that yielded success last year.
North Carolina FC enters the season coming off of a 8-16-6 (W-L-D) record in 2022. The North Carolina side finished last in 2022 but aims to make a title push in 2023 after making several crucial roster offseason moves. North Carolina FC added several seasoned players that know what it is like to win in League One.
South Georgia is poised to make a strong push for the championship title in the upcoming season. Fans can secure their seats at the new Tormenta Stadium ahead of 2023, with Season Tickets now available for purchase.
