USL1 South Georgia Tormenta FC

Match Forecast: Tormenta FC at Fort Lauderdale CF

South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release

STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC travels down to face Fort Lauderdale CF this Sunday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET, for the final game of a four-match series between the two sides this season. A must-win match for both squads, tension is sure to be high at DRV PNK Stadium.

With the 2021 USL League One Playoffs approaching, a loss for Fort Lauderdale on Sunday and any points gained by North Texas over the Richmond Kickers would eliminate the Florida side from the playoffs, as would a draw to Tormenta and a North Texas win.

Two points ahead of Fort Lauderdale in the standings, a loss for Tormenta FC would likely not end the team's playoff push but would put the squad on the brink of elimination.

After suffering a 4-1 road loss to league-leader Union Omaha on Wednesday, Fort Lauderdale will play its second match in a week. Tormenta FC, who is undefeated at DRV PNK Stadium, looks to turn around from its home loss to Omaha on Oct. 1 and secure all of its remaining points this season, starting with a win over Fort Lauderdale.

With 43 goals conceded this season, Fort Lauderdale has given up more goals than any other USL League One team, and forward Azaad Liadi's return to the pitch after a yellow card accumulation suspension will hopefully add much-needed attacking power to Tormenta's lineup.

Tormenta FC closes out its 2021 regular season with road trips to FC Tucson and North Carolina FC. As the 2021 season comes to a close, fans can now purchase their 2022 Season Memberships+, which include all USL League One, League Two and W League home matches. Don't miss a match next season at the new Tormenta Stadium!
