Steward Ceus in Haiti's Gold Cup sights
Since returning from a knee injury that held him out of the start of the regular season, Silverbacks goalkeeper Steward Ceus has been active, earning two Team of the Week mentions and even finalizing an assistant coaching position with Emory University's NCAA team. His summer could get even busier, though, as Ceus was named to Haiti's 35-man preliminary CONCACAF Gold Cup roster earlier this week ahead of the July 7 open of the continental tournament. One of nine players league-wide to earn a preliminary spot, Ceus has already been capped seven times with Les Grenadiers and could feature against the United States if he makes Haiti's 23-man final roster, which is due June 23.
Steve Guppy midway through Ireland coaching duty
Elsewhere in international Silverbacks news, Atlanta assistant Steve Guppy departed for coaching duty for the Irish national team's June matches, which include a scoreless draw against his native England and a European Championship qualifying match Saturday against Scotland. Look further into Guppy's role with Martin O'Neill's team and how it impacts Gary Smith and the Silverbacks in this week's feature on AtlantaSilverbacksFC.com.

NASL, Silverbacks welcome Puerto Rico FC
New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony and NASL officials announced pro soccer's return to Puerto Rico with an event held Thursday afternoon in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, located near the capital city of San Juan. NASL's press conference revealed Puerto Rico FC will begin play in the 2016 Fall Season as the league's 13th club and will use Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium (Capacity: 12,500) to host home matches. It's another push into the Caribbean for the league, which also just saw the Cosmos visit Havana in a historic friendly against the Cuban national team. NASL's last Puerto Rican team, the Islanders, played their final season in 2012.
