WORCESTER, MA. - The Massachusetts Pirates announced today the re-signing of defensive back Al Louis-Jean. A native of Brockton, MA, Louis-Jean played in 8 games for the Pirates in their latest season (2019). He tallied 9.5 total tackles and 1 pass breakup.

Louis-Jean spoke with MassPiratesFootball.com about returning for his second season with the organization. "It feels good to be back. It's too bad we didn't get the chance to come out of the gates this year. We're heading to a new league with some chemistry behind us. It feels like a fresh start in every way and we are hungry for a championship in 2021." Louis-Jean had 1.5 tackles in Massachusetts' playoff game in 2019. Pirates President and General Manager Jawad Yatim spoke on the re-signing of the defensive back as he continues to build the Pirates secondary in free agency. "Al is a long, athletic, rangy defensive back with great feet. His ball skills compliment his physical ability well and he's a player that will benefit from gaining some experience with us in 2019. We hope he builds off the things he learned as a rookie playing indoors and we look forward to seeing him get to work come March. Glad to have Al back."

Rayshaun Kizer, the team's Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach, is excited to have a full training camp with Louis-Jean. "Al is a great all around athlete with great length as well. Looking forward to seeing more from Al in training camp and seeing how he can help this team compete for a championship."

Louis-Jean played college football at Boston College from 2011 to 2013. He was signed by the Chicago Bears in 2014 as an undrafted free agent. That year, he played in 9 games for the Bears and registered 9 total tackles. Louis-Jean also spent time with the Washington Football Team and Miami Dolphins in 2016, and the CFL's Ottawa Redblacks in 2017.
