Maryland Nighthawks announce general manager

August 17, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release

Upper Marlboro, MD. Andrew Haines, owner of the ABA Maryland Nighthawks professional basketball team, today announced the promotion of Rick Matsko to General Manager as the team gears up for it's inaugural season in 2004. Haines stated, "Rick has a great understanding of the entertainment value of professional sports. He is the right fit for our team and this community."

A graduate of Temple University, and a former professional baseball player in the Cleveland Indians organization, Rick will use his wealth of knowledge to run the day to day operations for the NightHawks.

"I am thrilled about the chance to work with a first class organization like the Maryland NightHawks," said Matsko. "To be part of starting a team from the ground up is an exciting opportunity. I look forward to establishing our team name throughout the region and working closely with the community to establish a lasting relationship."

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
