Maryland GreenHawks (1st Green Pro Sport Team) Schedule Press Conference

ROCKVILLE, MD - Professional Basketball returns to Montgomery County with the introduction of The Maryland GreenHawks, the first and only GREEN professional sports team and official members of the Premier Basketball League (PBL). The GreenHawks will hold a press conference on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Bethesda Green in downtown Bethesda, MD.

The GreenHawks, operated and owned by the PBL, will formally introduce the team, the team's new head coach, draft picks from the 2009 PBL Draft, and the new mascot. The GreenHawks selected Byron Mouton (University of Maryland) with the third overall pick and Travis Lay (American University) with the tenth overall pick. The team has also signed Scooter Sherrill (NC State) and Daniel Artest (brother of NBA player Ron Artest). All players will be in attendance.

The Maryland GreenHawks will play in uniforms made from recyclable and organic materials and utilizes recycled products and gear at all home games. Each home game will be operated mindfully of conservation and recycling. The team will be also be 100% carbon free by replacing the carbon footprint of team travel and all home games. The players and organization will be committed to not only bringing exciting, professional basketball, but also to actively participating with local schools and the community on issues concerning the importance of protecting, conserving and saving our environment.

The PBL is the first basketball league designed for the ultimate fan experience in each venue in which the teams play, and also internationally via the PBL's state-of-the-art electronic game capabilities. The PBL consist of teams throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Montgomery County based attorney Thomas E. Doyle serves as Commissioner and CEO of the league, and is proud to be instrumental in bringing a social consciousness to professional sports.
