Maryland Black Bears News Release
The Maryland Black Bears were eying its first home series sweep in the calendar year of 2022 after a 5-2 win over the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks last night. Tonight, however, was now the Black Bears' night, as Danbury held off a late flurry of Maryland chances to win the game 2-1.
Danbury started the scoring in the first period when forward Robert Hyde deflected a shot into the net to make it 1-0. Jr. Hat Tricks forward Bori Skalos scored on a wrist shot from the near circle in the second period to double the lead to 2-0. Black Bears' captain Connor Cole was able to get Maryland back in the game with a wrist shot goal from the far circle in the offensive zone to make it 2-1 with just over a minute to go. The Black Bears were able to generate some great chances but it wasn't enough, falling to Danbury 2-1. The win for the Jr. Hat Tricks snapped a ten-game losing streak.
Maryland will be home again next weekend for a series against East Division rival Jamestown Rebels. Puck drop on Friday, March 11th will be 6:30 PM ET while on Saturday, March 12th, puck drop will be 7:00 PM ET at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. All games will be streamed on HockeyTV.
