November 2, 2016 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Miami FC News Release
MIAMI-Â The Miami FC's Ariel Martinez was named to the final NASL Team of the Week of the regular season, announced the league office.
Martinez put in a strong effort in the Orange and Blue's final match, netting the game-winner against FC Edmonton. He made an impact on both offense and defense for the Club as it recorded its third win over Edmonton, becoming the only team to hold a perfect record against the Canadian side.
Martinez fired off two shots against the Eddies, with one finding the back of the net. In the 65th minute, Martinez received a pass from Poku and then dribbled through a crowd of defenders and blasted a shot far post to give the Miami FC the lead.
He also did a good job as a creator, completing 29 passes and creating one scoring chance in 89 minutes of action.
Martinez also did a great job tracking back on defense, helping the Miami FC secure a third-consecutive shutout against Edmonton. He would win eight duels and collect one interceptions.
