Miami, FL. - The Miami Football Club announced today the acquisition of Cameroonian forward Mathieu Ndongo via transfer from Rhode Island FC, pending league and federation approval.
The 19 year old from Yaoundé, Cameroon joins Miami FC after spending the last half of 2025 with USL Championship Eastern Conference Finalists RIFC.
Ndongo will serve as a welcome addition to the new look Miami attack alongside veteran Jürgen Locadia, and will play an important piece in the club's roster especially with Locadia on national team duty for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer.
Prior to joining RIFC in their 2025 playoff run, Ndongo experienced his first ever professional season with Bahraini Premier League side Al Riffa SC in 2024/25. After coming up as a youth prospect in his native Cameroon, Ndongo signed his first professional deal with Al Riffa FC ahead of the 2024/25 Bahraini Premier League season at just 18 years old.
The 2026 USL Championship season will serve as an important part of Ndongo's career with a fresh start in Miami and the opportunity to develop into a prominent role in Miami FC's attack.
"I'm proud to officially join Miami FC. This is an exciting new chapter in my career, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to represent this club, my teammates and the city of Miami," stated Ndongo. "I'm ready to work, compete and give my full commitment every day. Looking forward to what's ahead."
Ndongo has already been quickly transitioned into preseason with Miami FC as they prepare for their March 14th USL Championship season opener at Louisville City FC. Miami General Manager, Todd Eason believes this moment and environment will be crucial for Ndongo. "We are very excited about the potential Mathieu brings this year for us," said Eason. "Not only to be in this environment where we can focus on his development, but to be mentored by someone like Jürgen who is about to play in a World Cup. It's an incredible opportunity for him, and we look forward to seeing Mathieu continue to grow and deliver results."
