The Marshals News Release
Cincinnati, OH - Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl kicker Shayne Graham and his charitable organizations, Kicks For Kids and Good For 3, have teamed up with the Cincinnati Marshals for the second consecutive season to help the Freestore Foodbank's Kid's Café.
For every field goal made by a Cincinnati Marshals kicker this year, Good For 3 will donate $100 to Freestore Foodbank. The Marshals and a sponsor will team up to match each of Good For 3's donations. In addition, on April 22, Graham will attempt 10 50-yard field goals during halftime of the Marshals game against River City. Fans and community members will have a chance to make donations at the game and through the Marshals website for the event. Fans can pledge a donation for each made attempt or make a single lump sum contribution. All proceeds will go to Kicks For Kids and Good For 3.
Good For 3 is a program developed before the 2004 Bengals' season by placekicker Shayne Graham and was continued last year during their drive to the Divisional championship and a spot in the postseason. Graham promised a donation of $300 for every field goal he made during the season with a corporation matching the donation. Last year, in route to earning a spot at the Pro Bowl, Graham made 28 field goals and was happy to fulfill his promise and donate $16,800 for the cause. Graham also hosted a dinner at the Cincinnatian Hotel for 84 kids in the Kid's Café Program. The Cincinnatian Hotel also played a vital role in the Good For 3 program.
"I am very grateful to have the opportunity for this program to last year round," Graham said. "The Kid's Café is a great program and I am very proud to be associated with them. It is my sincere pleasure to be a part of this program."
Kids Café is a program of America's Second Harvest and the Freestore Foodbank currently serving nutritious meals and healthy snacks that are served to children at eight Kids Café sites in low-income neighborhoods of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Eight non-profit member agencies of the Freestore Foodbank operate Kids Café sites where children not only receive nutritious food, but also participate in educational and recreational activities in safe, nurturing environments. Higher academic achievement is one outcome of the Kids Café where children not only receive more nutritious food than they would otherwise get, but also benefit from adult mentoring and receive assistance with schoolwork. Kids Café feeds more than 2,000 children each year, some as often as four times a week.
The Marshals are currently looking for any businesses interested in matching their contributions for field goals made by a Marshals kicker this season.
