Marshals Return Home After Month Long Road Trip

June 2, 2005 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
The Marshals News Release

Cincinnati, OH – The Cincinnati Marshals of the National Indoor Football League are kicking off the summer as they return home for the first time in over a month to take on the Rome Renegades in front of their hometown fans this Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 7:30pm at U.S. Bank Arena. They come into the game with a 4-5 record but remain in third place in the Atlantic East Division, still in the midst of the playoff hunt.

The team will be under new direction for this game after Tony Wells was named the new Head Coach of the Marshals on Wednesday. He brings 13 years of indoor football experience as a player and a coach in the AFL, the AF2 and the NIFL to the team.

"I'm excited to come to Cincinnati to coach such a great team with such great community support. These players have been through a lot in the past few weeks so I'm going to focus on earning their confidence and building stability so that we can move up in the playoff rankings," said Wells. "We want to put a great product on the field to thank the fans for their support and show them that we're here to stay."

Running back Rayshawn Askew is racing towards another National Indoor Football League record this week. The league record for single season touchdowns is 46. Askew currently has 39 touchdowns this season. He averages 5.4 touchdowns per game at home and has scored 7 touchdowns in two separate home games this season. 7 touchdowns this weekend against the Renegades would allow him to tie the single season touchdown record with 4 games left in the regular season.

The 5-5 Rome Renegades come to Cincinnati after beating the Miami Morays 70-32 last weekend. They are currently tied for 1st place in the Atlantic Central Division with the Montgomery Maulers.

To help kick off the summer, adult tickets are just $10.00 and kids 2-12 get in for only $7.00 (discount not valid on $25.00 VIP seats). Tickets are available at the U.S. Bank Arena Box Office, at all Ticketmaster locations including select Kroger stores, charge by phone at 513-562-4949 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
