Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - After compiling one of the greatest combined offensive and special teams performances in Arena Football League history throughout the month of April, the Grand Rapids Rampage's Timon Marshall (Kingston, Jamaica) has been named the league's Ironman of the Month. The honor marks the first such award for a Rampage player in team history.

Despite his team struggling to a 1-3 record in the month of April, Marshall put up impressive numbers offensively. The 5-10, 188-pound receiver led the Rampage with 31 catches for 369 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns in four games. Marshall also ran the ball six times for eight yards.

What earned Marshall his Ironman of the Month status was his incredible play on special teams, however. He totaled 717 kickoff return yards in four games, including a team record 230 kickoff return yards against the Los Angeles Avengers on April 28. Marshall was twice named Ironman of the Game (April 14 at Kansas City and April 28 at Los Angeles), and returned kickoffs for touchdowns in each of those contests.

His 1,097 all-purpose yards in April average out to nearly 275 yards per game (274.3), and stand as the most all-purpose yards in one month for an AFL player in nearly three years (Sedrick Robinson totaled 1,226 all-purpose yards in May 2004 with the Columbus Destroyers). Last week, Marshall set a Rampage record with 406 all-purpose yards against the Avengers, which also rank as the fourth most in AFL single-game history.

Marshall also recorded 4.5 tackles and recovered a fumble in the end zone to give him a total of 13 touchdowns during the month of April. The Rampage will showcase Marshall's electric play this weekend when they welcome their Central Division rivals, the Nashville Kats, on Saturday (May 5) at Van Andel Arena at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
