Cary Invasion Head Coach MarQus Johnson has accepted a full-time basketball coaching position with St. Augustine's University in Raleigh, NC. His duties with the school will not allow him to continue coaching the Invasion.

"Coach Johnson will be sorely missed, but we wish him the best and totally understand and support his decision," says Cary Invasion Owner and General Manager Mark Janas. Janas adds that the combination of Johnson's coaching skills and connections to player networks make him difficult to replace and will likely force wholesale changes in the organization. "MarQus' contribution to the organization has always gone far beyond coaching. He was an integral part of the business management team," states Janas.

Coach Johnson comments, "I would like to thank Mark and the Invasion organization for giving me the opportunity to coach at the professional level and to create great relationships within the Cary community. I would also like to thank the Town of Cary for their tremendous support. I believe that we together built a solid foundation for minor league basketball in the area. I will truly l miss the the Invasion and wish them the best of luck."

Johnson was instrumental in the Invasion's on-court success, compiling a 22 - 5 record over 2 seasons, winning the Continental Basketball League (CBL) regular season and tournament championships in 2011, and earning a Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL) finals appearance in 2012.
