December 21, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Nashville SC News Release
Coming off of back-to-back Eastern Conference Semifinal appearances and an unbeaten home season in 2021, Nashville SC opens its new stadium this season. With the full 2022 schedule released, we now know the full slate of 17 thrilling home matches coming to the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood this season.
With over 18,000 season tickets already sold, there's never been a better time to Come on N and join the Nashville SC family.
Here are some of the key home matchups in 2022 that you won't want to miss:
Philadelphia Union, May 1, 3:00 p.m. CT (ESPN)
This will be a moment in history you won't want to miss. Nashville SC opens its new home with a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Philadelphia Union in front of a national TV audience on ESPN. On that May afternoon, 30,000 Blue and Gold supporters will pack the largest soccer-specific stadium in the United States to witness the start of a new era in Nashville sports at the city's newest state-of-the-art venue.
On the pitch, the Boys in Gold will be looking to avenge its loss on penalties to the Union in the 2021 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in its only clash with Philadelphia this season.
Atlanta United FC, May 21, 6:30 p.m. CT (FOX)
Nashville SC's first-ever MLS opponent returns to town in late May for a Saturday night clash on national television. With just 250 miles separating Nashville and Atlanta, expect a raucous atmosphere at this match between Nashville's supporters and traveling Atlanta supporters.
The Boys in Gold have gone unbeaten in their last four matches against Atlanta dating back to the 2020 season, including a 2-0 win in Atlanta in their last meeting in August 2021.
Portland Timbers, July 3, 7:30 p.m. CT
Independence Day weekend in Nashville is always a good time, and Nashville SC is bringing the party this season with a matchup against the defending Western Conference champion Portland Timbers. Nashville has faced Portland only once before: a 1-0 loss on the road in March 2020.
Los Angeles FC, July 17, 7:30 p.m. CT
Nashville defender Walker Zimmerman faces his old club, LAFC, for the first time in mid-July at the new Nashville SC Stadium. It will also be Nashville's first-ever meeting with the 2019 Supporters' Shield champions. Supporters will have their first chance to see two of the strongest expansion sides of the last few years square off.
Zimmerman will have to wait a few more months to make his return to Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, as Nashville travels to face LAFC on Decision Day in October.
LA Galaxy, Sept. 10, 2:30 p.m. CT (Univision)
Chicharito and the LA Galaxy make their first-ever trip to Nashville. The Boys in Gold will have already faced the Galaxy during their season-opening road trip on April 23, just one week before Nashville SC Stadium is set to open.
Nashville has a couple of former Galaxy players on its roster. Defender Dave Romney was a Galaxy defender from 2015 to 2019, and newly-acquired forward Ethan Zubak played for the Galaxy first team from 2019 to 2021.
