
Marlies Edge Bulldogs 3-2 in a Shootout

Hamilton, Ontario - The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd of 8,819 at Copps Coliseum. Ryan Hamilton tied the game late and Matt Frattin scored the winner in the shootout.
The Marlies opened the scoring at 15:52 of the opening frame on a goal by Tim Connolly. After making his way into the offensive zone, Connolly shifted to the left circle and wired a wrister past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.
Just 36 seconds later, Michael Bournival tied the game for the Bulldogs at 16:28. Bournival danced into the zone and lifted a wrister over Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Mark Owuya. After 20 minutes of play, the Marlies led the Bulldogs 11-6 in shots.
After a scoreless second stanza, Toronto led 26-8 in shots.
Hamilton native Joey Tenute gave the 'Dogs the lead at 11:01 of the third period with his first goal as a Bulldog. Bournival took a shot which was stopped by Owuya and Tenute jammed the rebound into the back of the net from the top of the crease.
The Marlies tied the score at 18:10 of the third frame on a goal by Ryan Hamilton. After nothing was solved in overtime, the teams went to a shootout with Toronto edging Hamilton 3-2, giving the Marlies a 3-2 victory. Toronto finished the game with 37 shots while the Bulldogs finished with 20.
The Bulldogs' next game is against the Americans in Rochester on Monday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m. All 'Dogs games will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820).
