
Mark Saunders Named Head Coach of Revolution

Mark Saunders will guide the 2006 Greensboro Revolution as its head football coach for the NIFL franchise's inaugural season.
Saunders comes to the Revolution from Greensboro's Grimsley High School where he will continue to serve as the Whirlie's assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. The 45-year-old's extensive coaching resume also includes an eight-year stint at North Carolina A&T State University where he served as assistant head coach (1997-2000), running backs coach (1992-95 & 1999-00), defensive line coach (1995-99) and recruiting coordinator (1995-99).
From 2001-2003, Saunders was the general manager and head coach of af2's Rochester Brigade, where in addition to coaching duties his responsibilities included the directing of the day-to-day football operations including coordinating staff, scouting and player evaluation.
In addition to his position at Grimsley and past experience at A&T, Saunders' local ties also include a three-year tenure at Winston-Salem State as outside linebackers coach (1987-89). His coaching resume also includes stints with the NFL's Carolina Panthers (defensive line assistant coach, summer 2003) and Philadelphia Eagles (defensive line assistant coach, summer 1997 and 1998) and collegiate coaching experience with Illinois State University (running backs coach, 1990-91) and the University of Virginia (graduate assistant, 1989-90).
A graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC, Saunders was born in Winston-Salem, NC and attended Parkland High School. He currently resides in Greensboro with his wife Kimberly and their three children, Angelo (23), Marquis (13) and Ethan (3).

Phil Cole - Offensive Line & Special Teams Coach
Cole served as the offensive line/special teams coach with Saunders during his tenure with the Rochester Brigade (af2). His collegiate experience includes assistant coaching positions with Winston-Salem State, Arkansas Pine-Bluff and Norfolk State.
James Clyburn - Defensive Line Coach
A former defensive tackle for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars (1998-2000), Clybun starred on the collegiate level at North Carolina A&T University. His professional playing experience also includes stints with NFL Europe's Rhein Fire as well as the AFL's New Jersey Red Dawgs and Buffalo Destroyers and af2's Jacksonville Tomcats and Tallahassee Thunder.
Scott Loosemore - Linebackers Coach
Loosemore is currently an assistant coach at Eastern Guilford High School. He has also coached at Elon University and NC A&T University as well as with the Raleigh Rebels of the American Indoor Football League.
Richard Hayes- Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach
Hayes is currently the defensive coordinator at Greensboro's Dudley High School, where he helped pilot the Panthers to the Triad 3A Conference co-championship in 2005 and the 3AA Eastern Division Championship in 2004. Hayes has also coached at NC A&T (1998-2002) where he starred as a defensive back on the Aggies' 1991 MEAC championship team.
Brandon Anderson - Running Backs Coach
For the past five years, Anderson has filled a variety of coaching positions at Greensboro's Grimsley High School. He is currently the Whirlies' defensive coordinator/defensive line coach and head wrestling coach.
Dale Glossenger - Wide Receivers Coach
Glossenger has over 20 years experience as a player and coach and he currently serves as the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach with the semi-pro Carolina Heat. His coaching resume also includes a stint with South Davidson High School (offensive coordinator) in Denton, NC and working with a United States Army team based in Germany, where his team won two Army European Championship football titles.
Malachi King - Defensive Assistant
A Grimsley High School graduate, King played football for two years during his tenure as a member of the United States Marine Corps. His coaching experience includes 13 years as an assistant coach with Grimsley and the past seven seasons with the semi-pro Carolina Heat franchise, serving the past five seasons as head coach.
