Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons hit the ice for the first time during their 2013 training camp Thursday afternoon after spending three days of off-ice workouts and team-building sessions.

Wednesday's workout may have been the toughest of all as the team was put through a boot camp-style workout with a group of United States Marines, led by Staff Sergeant Kyle Whistle.

Players went through a grueling workout that included running, strength and endurance training, leadership skills and team-building.

"We couldn't be happier with our workout with the Marines, and it's something I plan to incorporate as a staple of my training camps for as long as I'm coaching," said Michael Gershon, Port Huron's Head Coach and General Manager.

"Our players performed well throughout the day, and it's a day I don't think any of us will soon forget," Gershon added. "Our off-ice training has us prepared to hit the ice and move on to the next step of camp.

The Fighting Falcons will play a pair of intra-squad scrimmages over the course of the next few days. The first will take place Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and the second next Tuesday, September 3 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free to both scrimmages at McMorran Arena.

The team will take on division one club teams from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Adrian College next Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for just $3 for these exhibition games, and season ticketholders get in free.

The Fighting Falcons coaching staff will pare down their training camp roster following Saturday's game against Adrian College.

Season ticket packages for 2013-14 start at just $175, and the first 25 fans to purchase two or more full season ticket packages will receive a free game-worn Fighting Falcons jersey.
