Marcus Sargeant Returns to Express

Reading Express signed defensive back Marcus Sargeant, a fan favorite during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Sargeant returns to the Express after spending 2009-2010 with the Harrisburg Stampede, and 2011 with Express rival the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.
Sargeant was ranked 9th in the IFL last season defensively with 28 tackles, 24 unassisted. Prior to the Steelhawks he recorded 12 interceptions each while playing for both the Stampede and the Express.
As a member of the previous winning seasons in early Express history, Sargeant looks to take the team back to the winning ways.
"We need to turn these losses into 'W's' and get the old Express feeling of winning back," Sargeant said, "Winning at Reading is an old school tradition that needs to return."
Now entering into his 7th season of arena football, Sargeant has had time to grow since his early years with the Express. His experience, paired with the return of Sam Bryant, will inevitably lead to a more explosive Express defensive unit.
"I'm much more knowledgeable now," Sargeant said, "I can work well with multiple players and the defensive secondary as well."
In the end, however, what it comes down to for Sargeant is giving a show to the fans, especially the kids.
"It's all about the kids," Sargeant said, "If I can get the kids to keep thinking about me in the following days after a game, they will want to come back, and their parents will want to bring them back.
"I know the kids idolize us, and I want to be a good role model for the kids. In this family atmosphere, we really cater to the kids, giving them a positive experience they won't forget."
