Bradenton Marauders News Release

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Marauders scored eight runs in their first four innings Friday night and received a stellar three-man pitching performance in an 8-1 win over the Clearwater Threshers at LECOM Park.

The win gave the Marauders (25-30) back-to-back wins for the first time since May 21 and 22 at Palm Beach.

In the bottom of the first inning, Jase Bowen reached on an infield single, extending his hit streak to a season-high eight games. Brenden Dixon followed by reaching on a dropped fly ball in right-center by Threshers (28-26) center fielder Wilfredo Flores, and Rodolfo Nolasco seized the opportunity by belting a three-run homer to right-center for a 3-0 Bradenton lead. Sergio Campana followed with a double, and after stealing third base, scored on a balk by Jordi Martinez (1-3) to cap a four-run frame for the Marauders.

Campana went 2-for-4, ending a six-game hitless streak, and his steal of third was his team-leading twelfth of the season.

Martinez threw 34 pitches for Clearwater in the first but continued through two more innings, allowing a second-inning solo homer to Deivis Nadal-his first since August 5, 2019, in the Dominican Summer League-and a one-out walk to Nolasco in the third came around to score on a fielding error in left field by Marcus Lee Sang, handing the Marauders a 6-0 lead through four innings.

Po-Yu Chen escaped several jams in his tenth start of the year for the Marauders, stranding eight total runners in his first four innings, including escaping a bases-loaded, one-out threat in the third. The right-hander allowed six hits and walked three, leaving after four and two-thirds innings and turning the mound duties over to Sergio Umana, who stranded an inherited runner in the fifth. Clearwater out-hit Bradenton, 10-8, but finished the game 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 total runners, the second-most by a Marauders opponent this season.

Mike Jarvis plated Bradenton's final runs of the night on a two-run double to left field that stretch the Marauders' lead to 8-0 off reliever Victor Lopez. Lopez and right-hander Carlos Betancourt would hold the Marauders hitless over their final four innings at the plate.

Minor league rehabber, Jeff Passantino (1-0), pitched the final three innings for the Marauders, carrying the team's shutout bid into the ninth inning before allowing a one-out solo homer to Jadiel Sanchez. The right-hander scattered three hits and struck out four, earning the win.

The series continues Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at LECOM Park. RHP Carlos Jimenez (1-4, 3.18 ERA) will start for the Marauders against Clearwater RHP Jean Cabrera (0-2, 5.74 ERA).
