
Marauders Down Miracle, 8-1, in Series Finale

BRADENTON, Fla. (August 27, 2014) - The Bradenton Marauders knocked off the Fort Myers Miracle, 8-1, in the season series finale at McKechnie Field on Wednesday evening.
Fort Myers and Bradenton traded runs in the second inning. Bryan Haar picked up an RBI on a ground out to third in the second and the Marauders plated a run when Justin Maffei hit into a double play with runners on the corners and no outs, 1-1.
The Marauders tagged Miracle starter Matt Tomshaw for four runs in the bottom of the third inning to jump out to a 5-1 lead. Adam Frazier led off with a single into center and Walker Gourley moved him to third with a perfect hit-and-run base hit. Jose Osuna then coaxed a walk to load the bases. Jordan Sterenka stepped up and served the first pitch from Tomshaw (11-6) to left to knock in a run and break a 1-1 tie.
Eric Wood then hit into a force play at third. Aderling Mejia threw out the lead runner at home for the first out of the inning. Then, Max Moroff hit a hard grounder that went off the glove of Tyler Grimes into center field that allowed two runs to score. Grimes was charged with an error. Maffei then drove in a run with a ground out to third, 5-1.
The Marauders scored three runs off Miracle reliever Tyler Jones in the sixth and seventh innings. Gourley knocked in a run with a single and Osuna picked up a RBI ground out. In the seventh, Moroff singled in a run to push the lead to 8-1.
Tyler Sample earned the victory in relief for the Marauders. Sample (1-0) threw four perfect innings and fanned nine. Jhondaniel Medina held the Miracle off the board in the final two innings.
Tomshaw was the losing pitcher for the Miracle. Tomshaw went five innings and surrendered five runs, three earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
The Miracle (79-56, 38-28) return to JetBlue Park for the final two regular season home games on Thursday and Friday at 7:05 p.m. Fort Myers will host the Jupiter Hammerheads and tickets are available at www.miraclebaseball.com or by calling the Miracle offices at (239) 768-4210.
