Bradenton Marauders News Release
JUPITER, Fla. - In the first game of a three game series comprising the final trip to Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, the Bradenton Marauders did something they had not accomplished since August 5th against Clearwater; win a game. The final three game series of the year against the Jupiter Hammerheads started off in a big way, with the Marauders scoring five runs in the first inning to guide themselves to a momentum shifting seven run victory on Friday night.
The Marauders jumped all over Jupiter starter RHP Josh Roeder in the top of the very first inning, as the first five batters to face the righty in the contest all reached base and all came around to score, giving the Marauders their biggest lead in over two weeks. Casey Hughston and Adrian Valerio both singled to drive in a run in the frame, both stole second base, and both later came around to score in an inning that was capped off by a Raul Siri single that drove in a pair of runs in a five run first that included six hits and even a pair of runners left on.
Bradenton added a run in the second inning when Casey Hughston led off with a triple, the second of his three hits on the night while finishing a home run short of the cycle, and was driven in on an Albert Baur sacrifice fly. The only other score in the contest came in the top of the sixth when Raul Siri singled with an out and was driven around on a Hughston double to bring the final score to 7-0.
The Marauders continue their final three game series against the Hammerheads on Saturday afternoon in a special 1 pm matinee contest, with the pitching matchup featuring RHP Mike Wallace for the Marauders and RHP Jorge Guzman for Jupiter.
