New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - The Boston Red Sox announced earlier today that RHP Manny Delcarmen will begin a Major League Rehab assignment with their Eastern League affiliate - the Portland Sea Dogs - tomorrow night in New Britain.
Delcarmen, 28, has been sidelined since July 1st with a right forearm strain. Prior to that, he had made 33 relief appearances for the 2010 Red Sox, posting a record of 2-2 with a 4.59 ERA.
The Boston, MA native was selected by the Red Sox in the 2nd Round of the 2000 Draft. He made his Major League debut in July of 2005.
The current schedule calls for Delcarmen to pitch in New Britain tomorrow night. He is slated to come out of the Portland bullpen for a set number of pitches in his first Minor League outing in a Portland uniform since he pitched for the Sea Dogs in 2005.
The Rock Cats and visiting Portland begin the second half of the 2010 Eastern League Season at 7:05 PM tomorrow night when they open a four-game series at New Britain Stadium. Good seats remain available for all four games. Tickets may be secured by visiting the Stadium Box Office, calling the Rock Cats Ticket Office at (860) 224-8383 or, if interested in the convenience of on-line purchasing, by visiting the club's website at www.rockcats.com.
