Manitoba Moose Post-Game Report - Manitoba at Ontario - January 20

Goals:

- Chase De Leo creates a turnover in the neutral zone, on the ensuing dump-in De Leo creates havoc around the Ontario net. The puck deflects off the Reign defenceman to Nic Petan who backhands it past Peter Budaj at 6:37 of the first period.

- While on the powerplay, Michael Mersch passes to Valentin Zykov who jumped into the middle of the offensive zone, his wrist shot beats Eric Comrie past the traffic in front at 16:04 of the first.

- Michael Mersch takes a slap shot from the point that beats Eric Comrie at 16:01 of the second period.

- Derek Forbort takes a shot from the point through traffic in front and the puck is tipped by Ryan Horvat passed Eric Comrie at 16:59 of the second.

- Sean Backman scored into an empty Moose net at 18:35 of the third period.

Highlights/Notes:

- Forward Thomas Raffl returned to the Moose lineup. It was his first game back since Dec. 13 after suffering a broken jaw during practice. He recorded one shot on goal in the game.

- Defenceman Jay Harrison also made his return to the Moose lineup for the first time since Dec. 17. He returned following an upper body injury. He recorded two shots on goal in the game.

- Eric Comrie made 27 saves in his 17th consecutive start in the Moose net.

- Nic Petan scored his third goal of the season. He now has 16 points in 24 games with the Moose and leads the team in points-per-game with 0.67.

- Chase De Leo recorded his 21st point of the season on an assist on Petan's goal. He is tied for the team lead in points and is currently tied for 17th among AHL rookies.

- Michael Mersch had a goal and an assist for Ontario. In his three games against Manitoba this season he has three goals and one assist for four points.

The Moose continue their trek through California, next up is the first of two meetings against the Stockton Heat on Friday, Jan. 22 at 9:30 p.m. CT.
