
Mammoth Training Camp Starts this Weekend

Denver, CO - Steve Govett, President and General Manager of the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse Team announced today that the official Mammoth training camp will begin Friday night at 9pm. There will be two sessions on Saturday as well, from 10 am - 1pm and 5pm - 8pm. All training camp sessions will be open to the public.
"We are really excited about the talent of this squad," said Govett. "We had a great rookie camp two weeks ago and are looking forward to seeing the 13 participants we took from that weekend jump in with the veterans."
University of Denver Pioneer Tom Ethington was invited on to training camp with the veterans and is said to be doing very well in training camp. "We are pleased in what we're seeing out of Tom at this point," said Steve Govett. "He has good timing and his size and speed make him a true competitor on this squad. We look forward to seeing him mix it up with the veterans."
Training Camp will run most weekends from November 8 through December 20, 2002. Training camp will be held primarily at Arapahoe Sports Center at 7300 S. Fraser Street in Englewood, CO. Training camp and practice information will be released at the beginning of each week for the following weekend.
The inaugural Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse 2003 season schedule has been released and begins January 3, 2003 against the Toronto Rock at the Pepsi Center. The entire 2003 season schedule is available on the website. The Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse team moved to Denver from Washington DC after the 2002 season where they were based for the last two years as the Washington Power. The eight home game schedule will be played at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado on weekends between December and April. Season ticket packages range from $80 - $240 and can be purchased now at 303-405-1101 or at www.coloradomammoth.com.
The National Lacrosse League includes a total of 12 franchise teams, spanning to both coasts. The schedule includes a total of 16 games and is broken down into three divisions: The Northern, Eastern and Central Divisions. The Colorado Mammoth is currently part of the Eastern division and is joined by New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia. The playoff format includes six teams. Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse is lead on the field this season by Gary Gait, touted to be the greatest player to ever play, as well as other veteran lacrosse stars Erik Miller, Brian Reese and Del Halladay. On the Bench is the newly appointed Head Coach Rod Jensen, who has joined the team from an assistant coaching position in Vancouver, BC.
Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse is owned by Kroenke Sports Enterprises and joins the NHL Colorado Avalanche, NBA Denver Nuggets, partial ownership of the AFL Colorado Crush, and Pepsi Center arena in Kroenke Sports' team-related holdings.
