Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth travels to Alberta to take on the Edmonton Rush on Friday night at Rexall Place for the first game of a home-and-home weekend series between the West Division teams. They will meet on Saturday night at Pepsi Center as well. This weekend marks the first meetings of the season between the Mammoth and Rush, with the regular-season finale to be played back in Edmonton next Saturday, April 9. The two teams are battling for a playoff spot.

Colorado hopes to build on its momentum coming off of last Saturday's 9-8 overtime win against the Boston Blazers in Denver. Down by three goals with less than seven minutes remaining, three Colorado players scored including Dan Carey's equalizer with 25 seconds left in regulation. In overtime, Mammoth assistant captain John Grant Jr. netted the game-winner 2:33 into the extra frame.

"We are looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of us," said Mammoth Head Coach Bob Hamley. "We were encouraged with our effort on Saturday at home and this weekend is another opportunity for this group to get to the next level."

While the win last weekend got the "monkey off their back," Colorado still has six games left in the regular season, all against teams in its division.

Edmonton's momentum is also on an upswing after last weekend's 14-13 win against the Minnesota Swarm as Rush newcomer Zack Greer scored the game-winner with just four seconds left in regulation against his former team en route to being named the NLL Player of the Week.

The Mammoth will have to slow down a balanced Rush offensive attack that features 13 players who have recorded 10 or more points this season. Edmonton is statistically a much more potent offense at home, scoring 12 goals a game at Rexall Place compared to a 10.14 average on the road. However, the defense is more porous on the home turf as well, giving up 14 goals per game. On the road, the Rush allows 12.86. Overall, Edmonton is last in the league in goals against average (13.33) and sixth in goals for (10.92).

Following the game in Edmonton on Friday, the Mammoth takes on the Rush on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center this Saturday, April 2 at 7:00pm MDT. Tickets are on sale now and start at just $5 apiece upstairs and $20 per seat in the lower level.
