DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth on Monday re-signed defensemen Scott Stapleford and Mark Miyashita and forward Ben Prepchuk to one-year contracts.
Stapleford, 24, set career highs with four goals and 12 assists for the Mammoth in 2005 despite missing two games to injury. The 6-foot, 185-pound Windsor, Ontario, native tallied 13 points in 2004 after joining the Mammoth as a free agent.
"Scott has had two solid seasons here in Colorado and we look forward to seeing his game develop and his role with the team grow," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said.
Miyashita, the No. 1 pick in the 2003 NLL entry draft, tallied 23 points as a rookie with the Vancouver Ravens in 2004 before signing with the Mammoth as a free agent prior to last season. At 6-1 and 205 pounds, the 24-year-old Richmond, British Columbia, native is a tenacious defender.
Prepchuk, who sat out last season to focus on school, tallied 77 points in 28 games with the Mammoth during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. The Mammoth acquired the 6-foot, 200-pound native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, through a trade with New York early in the 2003 season.
