
Mammoth loses first game of season

CALGARY, Alberta - After starting the season with four consecutive victories, the Colorado Mammoth lost its first game of the 2007 National Lacrosse League season on Saturday night.
Lewis Ratcliff scored six goals and added three assists to lead the Calgary Roughnecks to a 17-13 victory over the Mammoth at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
The Mammoth, which entered the game as the last undefeated team in the NLL, remains atop the West Division standings at 4-1. The Roughnecks improved to 2-1.
Forward Brian Langtry led the Mammoth with four goals and captain Gavin Prout added two goals and a game-high six assists. Ben Prepchuk and Jamie Shewchuk each had a pair of goals and Nick Carlson, Dan Carey and Nenad Gajic each scored once.
Mammoth goaltender Gee Nash made 24 saves and allowed nine goals before exiting the game in the second half. His replacement, Chris Levis, made 15 saves and allowed eight goals.
The Mammoth returns home to face the Portland LumberJax at 7 p.m. on Thursday night at Pepsi Center.
