Las Vegas Desert Dogs News Release
DENVER, Colo. - Las Vegas managed just two second half goals as the Desert Dogs fell 11-9 to the Colorado Mammoth Friday night in their first-ever trip to Ball Arena.
Zack Greer, Jack Hannah and Jon Phillips all finished with two goals. Landon Kells made 36 saves in net for the Dogs, as the team drops to 5-9 on the year with the loss. Colorado improves to 7-7.
The Dogs looked like they might run away with it in the first quarter, igniting a five-goal run to take a 7-3 lead with 2:02 to go. But Colorado answered right back, scoring five consecutive goals to take an 9-7 lead in the fourth quarter.
Las Vegas managed to tie the game back up after back-to-back spectacular goals from Hannah and Phillips. However, a pair of late penalties ultimately doomed Vegas, as the Mammoth converted a late power player opportunity to secure the two-goal victory.
The Desert Dogs return home next weekend to battle the San Diego Seals at Michelob ULTRA Arena on Saturday, April 8. Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
