 Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Despite a four-goal, three-assist game from 2012 NLL Rookie of the Year Adam Jones and hat tricks from reigning NLL MVP John Grant Jr. and forward Sean Pollock, the Colorado Mammoth was defeated by the Philadelphia Wings, 14-12, at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday afternoon.
After evening its record at 2-2 with a home win over the Minnesota Swarm to start the month, the Mammoth has lost three straight.
Pollock, who had scored a lone goal in each of Colorado's first five games this season before being held scoreless against Edmonton last Saturday, had a first-half hat trick. Goaltender Matt Roik allowed eight goals in the first 24-plus minutes on Sunday, and was replaced by Dan Lewis for the balance of the contest. Lewis gave his team a chance to win, but Colorado repeatedly failed to find the equalizer.
After leading 5-2 late in the first quarter, the Mammoth gave up a 7-1 run to the Wings in a span of 9:47. Captain Gavin Prout cut Philadelphia's lead to two, 9-7, late in the second.
Colorado pulled to within one three times in the second half, twice courtesy of Jones. Then, Wings transition players Brodie Merrill and Paul Rabil put the game out of reach late in the final frame.
Tickets for the Mammoth's next home game on Saturday, March 2nd at 7pm MST against the defending NLL champion Rochester Knighthawks are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
