St.Paul, Minnesota-- Down 11-1, Minnesota scored eight fourth-quarter goals but came up short.

The Edmonton Rush (4-5) rushed out to an 11-1 lead and held on late to beat the Minnesota Swarm (3-5) with a 14-9 road win at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Rush scored three times in the first 3:33 and took a 5-0 lead after the first quarter. Edmonton scored in the final minute of the first half, the only goal of the second quarter, for a 6-0 halftime lead with Rush goalie Aaron Bold stopping all 20 first-half shots that he faced.

After three more goals by the Rush to start the second quarter, the Swarm finally got on the board over 37 minutes into the game as forward Ryan Benesch made it 9-1 at the 7:35 mark of the third quarter.

Edmonton widened their lead to 11-1 early in the fourth quarter, but Minnesota would not give up as they scored six unanswered goals, two by Benesch, to cut the Rush lead to 11-7 with 3:46 remaining before Rush forward Corey Small stopped the run with 1:57 left in regulation.

The Swarm answered with two quick goals as Benesch answered 13 seconds later before rookie Kiel Matisz made it 12-9 with 1:20 left. But Edmonton's Zack Greer scored with 51 seconds remaining and defenseman Chris Corbeil sealed it by scoring on the empty net with 25 seconds left.

Greer (3+2) and Ryan Ward (0+5) both finished with a team-high five points, Small (3+1), Jarrett Davis (0+4) and rookie Curtis Knight (2+2) each had four points while rookie Mark Matthews had three points (1+2).

Beech (4+2) and Callum Crawford (1+5) had a game-high six points, while rookies Kiel Matisz and Shayne Jackson had five points (1+4) and four points (1+3) respectively in the losing effort.

Bold finished with 35 saves on 44 shots while Swarm goalies Evan Kirk and Tyler Carlson combined to make 31 saves on 45 shots in the loss.
