Mammoth adds more firepower with Stroup
December 17, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER â The Colorado Mammoth added another weapon to its arsenal today, signing free-agent forward Dan Stroup, team general manager Steve Govett announced.
Stroup, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound veteran of eight NLL seasons, won three league championships with the Toronto Rock (1999, 2000 and 2002). Stroup's five goals in Toronto's Champion's Cup Final victory over Rochester in 2000 earned him the game's most valuable player award.
Stroup, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, played the last two seasons for his hometown team, the Vancouver Ravens. The NLL announced on Wednesday that Vancouver has been removed from the 2005 schedule for failure to secure a suitable arena lease. The Ravens had played three seasons at General Motors Place since entering the league prior to the 2002 season.
Stroup set career highs with the Ravens in 2003 with 36 assists and 70 points. His career-high of 37 goals came the previous season with Toronto. Stroup has averaged more than three points per game throughout his career and both his goals- and points-per-game averages are higher in the postseason. He is also durable, not having missed a game since 1998.
